Companies Should Engage In Online Content Marketing | New ...

According to an eConsultancy survey, online content marketing is something that over 90 percent of people agree will become important in the coming year. However,?only 38 percent of companies have an online content marketing strategy and 29 percent of marketing agencies say that they or their clients aren?t planning a content marketing strategy.

Online content marketing involves the creation of content that brings potential consumers to a business?s website and helps generate sales once a consumer gets there. It is a new, critical part of marketing that is gaining in popularity and success, yet many companies aren?t buying into it. There are a few myths that hold back?companies from investing in online content marketing which need debunking.

  1. Myth #1: If a business doesn?t rely on a website for business, online marketing is pointless.?Many businesses don?t depend on their website for business and do just fine without a successful one. However, these are the businesses that are actually perfect candidates for online content marketing.?If a business is successful without a successful website, then a successful website could create more growth for them. Quality content is what makes online content marketing work so well. First of all, Google and other search engines are focused on the quality of content more than ever. Secondly, although social media networks treat all content as being equal, people will engage more in content that is of good, original quality. If more people on social media share a businesses content, then that business can reach the same amount of people that a much larger company shared by the same people would.
  2. Myth #2:?Customers don?t conduct online research.?Even if a business does not offer mainstream goods or services, chances are their customers are still researching on the web before making any purchasing decisions. However, studies have found that approximately 85 percent of purchases are?researched online beforehand. Google also estimates that people use around ten online sources to help them make their decision.?Content marketing generates content that puts a certain business within that research and encourages the customer to choose their product ? the business website becomes a resource. No business can say with 100 percent certainty that no customers will ever use the internet to research their services or products, and if that is the case, then they should be asking why not.
  3. Myth #3: The current marketing strategy use is just fine.?A business may be content with their current marketing strategies and in fact may be getting a lot business from them. These businesses probably think they don?t need to change anything. However, these businesses need to ask themselves two things: 1) Is our competition doing it, and 2) Could our market change? A business still may be seeing success without online content marketing, but the facts are that?trends are increasing towards online research. If a particular market expands into the online sector and a business is not investing, then their competitors? content will take their place and that is what the consumers will begin to choose.

The reality of online content marketing is that when it?s done properly, the benefits are endless. There are no good reasons for a business not to join in.?To read more on the reasons why companies don?t invest in online content marketing, click here.
