Finally?an anti-obesity public service announcement that doesn?t aim to shame or blame those who are overweight or obese. Unlike other attempts we have seen lately (like the Blue Cross ad that wags their finger at fat parents), the city of Los Angeles released a new campaign that is refreshingly simple, straightforward and non-judgmental. And, it gets to the heart of the obesity problem in our country.
In a new campaign aimed to raise awareness about portion sizes and their dangers, County officials in L.A. unveiled their new public health campaign Thursday to help residents do just that. The campaign, entitled ?Choose Less, Weigh Less? wants to educate people on recommended 2,000 calorie limits and how they can consume fewer calories throughout the day.
In one ad, it shows two different breakfast plates that someone could order. The one on the left obviously has more food with four pancakes, four slices of bacon and two eggs?an amount of food that is more than half of the recommended calories that an average person needs each day. On the right, it shows a smaller, more reasonable breakfast order that someone could order, while filling them up without the extreme calories.
