The Irish Times has reported that the Privacy Bill in Ireland, which was parked in 2007, is rearing its head again, and potentially threatening to block the research efforts of genealogists using public registers (e.g. birth, marriage and death registers) which may fall within the act. An exemption is being sought by the Genealogical Society of Ireland, and no doubt many other interested parties.

The story is online at www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2012/1001/1224324668622.html
