My Methods On Choosing A Gps Device System ? Work from Home

Now let us begin by taking the time to start thinking about the reason why we want a unit and how we are going to be using this particular Gps device device? The spot I feel is best to look at that can help us all find out some good information is almost always to look at if we?re using maps often, or possibly we need to print out guidelines off of Google or Yahoo so as to get somewhere. If you discover you are looking at roadmaps regularly in that case in all probability you have a need of a unit. And so we have an solution at this moment that explains why, however there are several other items one should take into account prior to buying virtually any system.

Perhaps you might have seen the options currently available when compared to a three years or so in the past are never-ending. There are handheld devices, fixed devices and also models which happen to be within a watch. Seeing as there are a great number of alternatives the retail price is also varied so one should invest time to discover what their own budget can afford before we go out shopping.

Choosing the configuration is filled with quite a few options, which is easier considering the fact that we know our financial budget at this point. Would you like something which goes everywhere with you just like a watch can? A unit the size of a cell phone may be a requirement to consider should you want something you could possibly hold onto. Should you lose things, in that case most likely the better option really is a bicycle gps systems australia which stays attached in the car or perhaps on your own mountain bike. Sure you can still take them off for charging or even the replacement of the battery pack as needed. You happen to be right! The actual alternatives are generally extensive but generating a list of the units as short as possible in advance of looking around will let you find the best unit to suit your needs.

Next choices we intend to take a look at after deciding upon budget along with model is just what features you may be in search of. Screen size may be extremely important to us all or maybe if the developer provides standard road map up-dates. What about quality together with readability from the screen? Have you considered memory space of factors such as lap times, or perhaps overall travel times and so on.

One fantastic aspect for those who drive in traffic often is search for units which may have traffic detection. For me personally I?ve found this feature to be very helpful and has kept me from sitting in road traffic for many hours on the ridiculous highway.

An additional beneficial feature you ought to take into account is the choice of making use of unit hands-free. It has grown to be more popular then ever due to the brand new legislation that happen to be coming out regarding distracted driving. Buying a model with this particular hands-free option may be of substantial value also because just one fine for this violation is far more then the particular cost of this feature.

We certainly have thought about many things when selecting a car compare handheld gps systems or casio gps watch 2012 in this post together with wish they guide most people in discovering a unit also. Lessoning the difficulties in locating one can be achieved if you are taking the time to check each and every suggestion we have offered here. Right after finding your way through every one of these simple steps the final result we?d like for here is that you end up with a product that provides everything that you need for a reasonable length of time.

Point Reyes Oyster Farm Ordered Closed

Eric Risberg/Associated Press

Workers brought in one of their last hauls for the Drakes Bay Oyster Company at Point Reyes National Seashore.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar on Thursday ended a longstanding and bitter dispute that pitted wilderness advocates against supporters of a Northern California oyster farm, announcing that the farm?s lease from Point Reyes National Seashore would end on Friday as originally planned. An estuary known as Drakes Estero, where the oyster operation has existed for the last 40 years, will become a federally designated wilderness area.

A blog about energy and the environment.

Eric Risberg/Associated Press

Ken Salazar, far left, and Kevin Lunny at the farm.

In a statement, Mr. Salazar said, ?We are taking the final step to recognize this pristine area as wilderness.? The Interior Department has given the farm 90 days to fold.

More than a decade after the park was created on Point Reyes in 1962, Congress mandated that part of it be designated as wilderness; the section included Drakes Estero, a 2,500-acre rich marine estuary that is home to scores of seals. The oyster farm is the source of roughly 40 percent of California?s oysters and is part of a local food web that makes the surrounding Marin County area a mecca for locavores.

In 2004, the oyster farm changed hands, and the lease was taken over by the Drakes Bay Oyster Company, which is run by a local rancher, Kevin Lunny.

Mr. Lunny was notified that the lease was set to end this year, but indicated about six years ago that he hoped to have it extended.

In the ensuing years, park service scientists questioned the farm?s environmental record, and were in turn accused of skewing the science to paint Mr. Lunny as a despoiler of the ecosystem.

In an interview Thursday, Mr. Lunny said: ?We?re trying to get over the devastation, the surprise and the disappointment. To have to deliver this message to our staff is beyond imaginable. To have to tell them they?re going to lose their jobs and their homes.? He said about 15 of the 30 oyster farm workers lived on the site with their families.

The department indicated it would do what it could ?to help employees who might be affected by this decision? but there is no provision for any payment to Mr. Lunny.

Three environmental groups ? the Sierra Club, the National Wildlife Federation and the National Parks Conservation Association ? immediately praised the decision. In an interview, Neal Desai, a West Coast representative of the Washington-based Conservation Association, said, ?This is a very big gift the secretary has given the public.?

While the policy issue was always whether to extend the lease, the parallel debate over park service science moved to the forefront in recent years.

The park service had to backpedal on some of its original claims about environmental damage, and its subsequent scientific efforts were scrutinized by outside scientists who identified significant shortcomings. Repeated investigations confirmed many of these shortcomings, but never found that park scientists had engaged in outright scientific misconduct.

The memorandum supporting the secretary?s decision played down the scientific issues, saying that the environmental impact statements that reviewed the science and recommended ending the lease had been helpful, but in no way indicating they were central to the decision.

Plumbing Supplies | Home Improvement Ideas

Anyone in the plumbing business knows the importance of having plumbing supplies close at hand. As a plumber, or a homeowner who is good at doing repairs, you need to be prepared for any plumbing task that may come your way. If you are a plumber, the list of supplies that you need will be vast, and although you may not have them in your stock, you need to have a place where you can get these supplies quickly. Here are some of the factors that you should bear in mind when looking for a place to get these supplies regularly.

The store that you choose should have an extensive supply of plumbing tools and accessories. These may vary from pipes, joints, fittings, taps, valves, and plumbing tools. You can always rely on a well stocked store to provide you with anything that you may need, at short notice. Even if you are a homeowner faced with a minor repair job, you need to get the supplies in the shortest time possible.

Given the state of the economy today, it is important that you look for a store that will give you plumbing supplies at a good price. Repair jobs can be costly, and homeowners are always looking for the lowest priced plumber to hire. You need to be competitive by providing your services at the lowest cost possible. The only way you can do this, is by looking for discounted supplies, which will allow you to give competitive quotes to prospective clients.

The quality of the plumbing supplies is an important factor, in selecting a supplier for your plumbing needs. You need supplies that will not wear out quickly. You need to minimize the cost of repairing homes, by ensuring that there are no repeat jobs, brought about by the use of sub-standard supplies. You can review the best brands available, and find out which store has got them in stock.

You should start your search for such a store on the Internet. Go through their inventory list, and find one that will provide you with the largest stock of supplies, at the lowest cost. You should also read online reviews and see which stores have the highest rating for efficiency, inventory, and delivery times. Visit your local plumbing shop, and see what supplies are stoked there. If certain items are not in stock, then you can order these from an online store, which will deliver to your place of business.

Or you could use Media Player Classic instead of VLC, You might want to get some anti spyware and anti malware if your worried about viruses, Advanced System care pro does wonders to keep my computer clean better than ccleaner the only downside is you have to pay for the pro version... unless your a pirate. But the pro version comes with some good utilities, deep registry cleaning, a built-in uninstaller than can search the registry for anything that hasn't been removed by the uninstaller, etc.

If you like recording software and you want to keep the filesize to a minimum you should get bandicam, If you dont care about file size I would recommend getting Dxtory and use the Lagarith lossless codec.

At the moment I cant think of what else you might be interested in but i hope this helps.

Yes you would be better off starting fresh with Windows 7 Ultimate/Enterprise x64. If it was me I would redo it all with 7 lol. 8 sux the balls imo, unless you have a touchscreen to actually utilize it... It's a touch version of 7 for dummies...

GodMode is just a hidden folder that puts all of Windows commonly needed settings in one place rather than 50 different places like normal. It will change nothing on your OS and is merely a centralized shortcut location for everything computer admins need. Just a neat little tweak...

The Law of Attraction History | self improvement made simple

You need a 7 Day BrainwashIt is important that you understand that the law of attraction is not simply New Age nonsense (many descriptions of the law of attraction refer to it as a product of a New Age Mentality). The principles of the law of attraction date back far beyond the new found popularity of the New Age.

The immortal Buddha was actually one of the first to introduce man to the law of attraction. He said, ?What you have become is what you have thought.? This was a principle that the people of the east were acquainted with for centuries before it began to sweep into the western hemisphere.

The concept of karma may also have drawn its roots from the law of attraction. Karma states that you will eventually be revisited by that which you have sent out into the universe. If you have practiced kindness and compassion, you will receive it in kind. If you have been deliberately cruel to another, you will receive back into your life that cruelty which you have sent out. Your actions and thoughts morph into physical entities, causing the universe to react in kind.

The law of attraction began to gain popularity in the western hemisphere in the 19th century, as people began to appreciate the power of positive thinking and how to apply it to their lives. This new concept was first introduced to the general public by William Walker Atkinson, the editor of New Thought magazine, who published a book called Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World? in 1906. Other works followed, including the famous Master Key System? by Charles F Haanel, and Think and Grow Rich?, written in 1937 by Napoleon Hill.

As you can see, the concept of the law of attraction is not new. The idea that thought can have a predominate affect on the course of a man?s destiny has been taught by wise men throughout the ages, and has given rise to a whole new era of beliefs. The principles have been used, either consciously or unconsciously, by the rich and successful for thousands of years.

The Secret?

You have probably heard of the movie, The Secret?- it has been largely responsible for the recent interest in the law of attraction and is well worth watching. The Secret? is actually based on older classics? written in the early part of the 20th Century, such as the Master Key System? and The Science of Getting Rich?. However, knowing about The Secret? (the law of attraction) is not enough- you have to learn how to apply it and how to control your thoughts and feelings so that your desires can manifest into reality.

Another Social Media Inbox? Source Metrics Says This One?s All About ?Actionable Mentions? And Breaking Down Data Silos

source metrics social media inboxStartup Source Metrics is announcing a new feature to its social marketing tools today, which it's calling the Social Media Inbox. The idea of a new social network listening tool may not set anyone's heart aflutter, but CEO Scott Lake said the real selling point is the fact that the inbox is integrated with Source Metrics' other services. Many companies use a product like Radian6 to monitor social media, HootSuite to publish content, and Bitly to track different campaigns, creating "three data silos," Lake said. Source Metrics offers all of those capabilities in one suite of product.

Syrian state media: Damascus car bombs kill 34

With 47 percent of the popular vote, Mitt Romney may become the president of nothing more than Ironystan. Yes, the final general-election tally is trickling in and, as fate would have it, Romney's total might look more like that mythical number after all. Well, according to David Wasserman of the Cook Political report, it's more like 47.49 and dropping, which, of course rounds down to 47 ? the same percentage of Americans?he said were moochers and takers in a video?that was one of the nails in the coffin of his presidential campaign.

Apple's ultra-thin iMac to become available on Nov. 30

1 hr.

Apple announced an upcoming?update to its popular iMac desktop computer line in October, but on Tuesday the Cupertino-based company finally confirmed that the 21.5-inch version of the?new, ultra-thin desktop will be available on Nov. 30.?

"Isn't it amazing how something new makes the previous generation instantly look old?" asked?Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Phil Schiller, when he first?unveiled what a press release calls "the most advanced desktop Apple has ever made."?The new iMac looks quite similar to the previous generation from the front, but from the side, it is incredibly clear that the desktop has undergone a significant redesign: It has an edge that's a mere 5 millimeters thin.?There is, of course, a bit of a bulge in the middle of the computer's back, for the sake of some internal components, but it still has about 40 percent less internal volume than its older siblings and weighs about eight pounds less, as NBC News' contributor Joel Johnson pointed out when we first heard about the new iMac.

The new iMac is offered in 21.5-inch and 27-inch versions, which start at $1,300 and $1,800, respectively. The new desktops have displays with 75 percent less reflection than the prior generation and a Fusion Drive option (which combines a standard hard drive and a flash-based one to offer up to 60 percent faster performance).

While the 21.5-inch version of the new iMac will begin arriving in customers' homes on Nov. 30, its?27-inch counterpart won't begin shipping until December, according to a press release issued by Apple.

Troops debate risks, benefits of women in combat

Plaintiff Colleen Farrell, a U.S. Marine Corps First Lieutenant, speaks during a media conference Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, in San Francisco. Several active women military personnel have filed a federal lawsuit to demand combat action, requesting all branches of the military to remove the so-called combat exclusionary rule that bars women from fighting on the front lines. This suit, to be filed by the American Civil Liberties Union, is believed to be the first involving active duty military personnel. (AP Photo/Ben Margot)

SAN DIEGO (AP) ? A federal lawsuit filed by four service members Tuesday challenges the Pentagon's longstanding policy barring women from serving in direct combat positions. Here are the issues:

WHAT IS THE CURRENT POLICY REGARDING FEMALE TROOPS?

The 1994 combat exclusion policy bars women from being assigned to ground combat units, which are smaller and considered more dangerous since they are often in the thick of battle for longer periods of time than the other units.

WHAT ARE THE ARGUMENTS FOR LETTING WOMEN FIGHT ON THE FRONT LINES?

Supporters of lifting the ban say women are already being wounded or killed in war, and the policy keeps them from being recognized for their battleground experience, which could lead to promotions and higher pay. They also say the policy hurts the U.S. military by limiting the chances of qualified women to move into more senior leadership ranks.

WHAT DO OPPONENTS SAY?

Opponents include some female troops who question whether women are physically capable of handling the rigors of being assigned to ground combat units. The first two women to volunteer for the Marine Corps' grueling 13-week infantry training course at its base in Quantico, Va., were unable to complete it. The Corps will open the course again to female volunteers in January.

WHAT DOES THE MILITARY'S TOP BRASS SAY?

Military leaders say they want to make sure lifting gender-based barriers would not disrupt the cohesion of the smaller combat ground units and military operations. The Marine Corps' top leader, Gen. James Amos, ordered a survey of 53,000 troops to get their views, including whether they believe women in those units would distract male Marines from doing their jobs. The results have not been released yet.

HOW CLOSE DO WOMEN GET TO THE FRONT LINES?

The blurred front lines of modern warfare, with suicide bombs and sniper attacks, have put more and more women in combat situations. More than 144 female troops have been killed and more than 860 have been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan since the wars began according to Pentagon statistics. Roughly 20,000 of the 205,000 service members currently serving in Afghanistan are women.

Freed scientist finds little change or hope in Russia

KRASNOYARSK, Russia (Reuters) - Grey, pale and thin, Valentin Danilov has changed more than the country that jailed him in 2004 for selling state secrets to China.

The 66-year-old Russian physicist, whose face is now criss-crossed with deep wrinkles, could not be blamed for suffering from "deja vu" when he was released on Saturday from a Siberian penal colony on spying charges he says were politically motivated.

President Vladimir Putin, now 60, is back in the Kremlin for a third term, corruption is rife, the unreformed economy is creaking under the weight of its dependence on energy exports, and opponents are still being imprisoned.

Danilov, whose case human rights activists cite as evidence that Putin uses Russia's weak courts to persecute his enemies, sees little hope of rapid change.

"Nothing has changed," Danilov said in an interview, putting some of the blame on Russia's 142 million people.

"The authorities do not descend on us from the moon. They are the choice of the nation. So the authorities reflect the state of the nation," he told Reuters a few hours after his release from the high-fenced penal colony.

News of one major change did reach him during his last year in the colony in a grimy industrial area outside the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, 6,500 km (4,000 miles) east of Moscow - reports that people had taken to the streets to protest.

Demonstrations against Putin in Moscow and other big cities began a year ago, caused by anger over allegations of fraud in a parliamentary election won by the Kremlin leader's party, but they have largely lost momentum and the opposition is divided.

Reflecting on the possibility of free and fair elections, and the possibility of political upheaval, Danilov said: "The nation is not yet ready."

NEW CRACKDOWN?

Dressed formally in a red tie and grey jacket, Danilov was speaking in an apartment in the city where he was born and jailed, and which was once part of Soviet dictator Josef Stalin's network of Gulag prison camps.

A researcher at Krasnoyarsk State University, he was first arrested in 2001. He admitted selling information about satellite technology to a Chinese company but he, other scientists and human rights activists said the information had already been available from public sources.

An initial decision to acquit him was overturned and he was sentenced to 14 years in prison in a second trial. A Krasnoyarsk court granted him parole earlier this month, citing good behavior and poor health.

Asked how he felt about finally stepping outside the prison walls, he said "there were no feelings", but added that he had no regrets and that he regarded himself as a political prisoner.

At the time of Danilov's trial, Putin's opponents said the president was clamping down on academics who had contacts with foreign countries. They say his release showed that the Kremlin no longer regarded the physicist as a threat.

Opposition members see similarities between what happened to Danilov and the pressure being put on them now in Moscow.

Citing legal cases such as the sentencing of members of the Pussy Riot punk band over an anti-Putin protest in a Russian Orthodox Church, they say the Kremlin is using the legal system to smother dissent.

Putin denies this but several opposition leaders face criminal charges and the parliament has adopted a slew of laws over the last half year which opponents say could be applied against them.

These include tightening checks on lobby and campaign groups that have foreign funding, forcing them to register as "foreign agents", and broadening the definition of treason.

"As for President Putin, I guess everybody would be the same as him in his place. The court makes the tsar," Danilov said, avoiding direct criticism of the president but condemning the circle around him.

"The problem is not one of law but of how the judging is done."

He read widely about Russia's legal system during his time in prison, and said the judiciary was still open to political manipulation.

NO PLANS TO ENTER POLITICS

After nearly a decade behind bars, including in colonies populated by murderers, Danilov's brown eyes are still penetrating and his wits sharp. He deflects questions about his health but is not a broken man.

He does not want to look back, refusing to go into detail about his life in prison or his health.

"It's like serving in the army, only that a man in the army has fewer rights. By taking the military oath, a soldier gives up some of his rights. While in prison, the prisoner can at least call in a lawyer and make complaints about abuse of rights," he said.

Among people he admires, he listed several Putin critics - opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, former world chess champion Garry Kasparov and human rights campaigner Lyudmila Alexeyeva.

He praised the entry into politics of Mikhail Prokhorov, a rich tycoon who challenged Putin in the March presidential election while denying accusations of being a "Kremlin stooge".

Beyond retirement age, and worn down by his years in prison, Danilov signals that a new fight with the state or taking on a role in opposition is the last thing on his mind.

He wants to go back to work soon to try out ideas he developed while he had time on his hands in jail. He also says he is ready to play an advisory role on how to reform Russia's outdated penal system.

He aims to rebuild his strength and family ties with his daughter, granddaughter and wife of 41 years who lives in Novosibirsk, also in Siberia.

Danilov said he had no plans to flee Russia or deal with space research again. He plans to keep in touch with people he met behind bars, including a man sentenced for murder whom he helped to obtain higher education.

Putting a positive spin on his years in jail, he said: "They say that to get to know a country well, one must visit its cemeteries and prison. I used to visit cemeteries often and now I've been to prison too.

"So you can really believe me when I say I know perfectly fine now what Russia is," he said.

He paused for a moment and, smiling, switched to English to quote the title of a Shakespeare play: "All's well that ends well."

(AP) ? It was such an unbelievable play that Ray Rice reached deep and used a nursery rhyme to describe it.

"Check down, Hey Diddle Diddle, Ray Rice up the middle," the Baltimore running back said with a smile after the Ravens converted a fourth-and-29 play to help force overtime before stunning the San Diego Chargers 16-13 on Sunday.

It was almost an afterthought that Justin Tucker kicked a 38-yard field goal to tie the game at 13 as regulation expired, and then made another 38-yarder with 1:07 left in overtime to win it

This was all about Rice's 29-yard catch-and-run that saved the day and allowed the Ravens (9-2) to take an even firmer grip on the AFC North race.

Pushed back by a holding call against guard Marshal Yanda and a 9-yard sack of Joe Flacco by Antwan Barnes, the Ravens were down to their last desperate shot.

"I was thinking we needed a miracle," Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs said.

They got it.

Flacco took a shotgun snap, looked downfield and then dumped it to Rice, who ran through a big hole in the middle of the field. Three Chargers missed him at the 50 before Quentin Jammer and Antoine Cason finally brought him down.

The ball originally was spotted at the 33. After a lengthy review, the ball was moved back to the 34 and the refs measured. The new spot still gave the Ravens a first down by the length of the ball.

"It was just total will," Rice said. "Once I made the first guy miss when I cut back across the grain, I actually saw the defense had to flip their hip and I kept eyeing the first down. I looked and said, 'Should I keep running to the sideline or should I just keep trying to get up field?' And that's what I did. I just kept getting up field.

"I left it in the hands of the officials and I'm not going to say they owed us one, but I'm glad we came out on top," he said.

Said wide receiver Torrey Smith: "I had a great view. ... That's probably one of the best plays I've ever seen. You won't see too many plays like that. He was the perfect guy for it."

With the Chargers defenders playing deep, Flacco couldn't find Smith open so he went to Rice.

"I thought it might be our best shot at the time ? give it to Ray ? and Ray made a great run and got a little lucky and it worked out perfect," Flacco said.

All the Chargers had to do was get the stop and run out the clock for their first win against a team with a winning record this season.

"I don't know what to say," Jammer said. "A play like that should never happen. You can't give them a chance to execute that play. But we had some breakdowns, for sure."

Up to that point, San Diego's defense had played well.

"It definitely upsets the stomach when things like that happen, but they happen," said defensive end Corey Liuget, who had a sack, a big fourth-down stop earlier in the game and a pass deflection.

"You have to give a guy credit when he makes an awesome play like that. But it was big, the biggest of the game it changed the game. ... Those kinds of plays are never acceptable in the NFL. You have to have somebody make the play."

San Diego (4-7) was pushed closer to elimination from the playoff picture for the third straight season, and with it, almost certainly the end of the Norv Turner era. The Chargers dropped four games behind AFC West leader Denver, which swept the season series against San Diego. In the wild-card race, the Chargers trail Indianapolis by three games and Pittsburgh and Cincinnati by two games.

Baltimore increased its lead to three games over Pittsburgh, which lost to Cleveland, and Cincinnati, which beat Oakland. The Ravens won their fourth straight and for the eighth time in nine games.

San Diego punted on both of its OT possessions. The second punt, a 63-yarder by Mike Scifres, pinned the Ravens at their 11 with 4:56 to go.

On third-and-10 from the Chargers 47, Smith came back and went over Jammer's tight coverage to make a nice catch of a 31-yard pass from Flacco to the Chargers 16. Flacco twice took a knee to set up the winning kick.

San Diego had gone ahead 13-3 on Nick Novak's 30-yard field goal with 7:51 to go in regulation.

This was the third time the Chargers blew a lead of double digits in the second half. They also came from ahead to lose at New Orleans and in an epic Monday night game here against Denver, when they blew a 24-0 halftime lead and lost 35-24.

Philip Rivers was sacked six times, twice by Arthur Jones. Rivers was turnover-free for just the third time in 11 games. He came in with 14 interceptions and four lost fumbles.

Rivers threw a 21-yard TD pass to Malcom Floyd and Novak kicked a 43-yard field goal to give the Chargers a 10-0 lead in the second quarter.

The Ravens struggled offensively until the opening drive of the second half. Flacco threw a short pass to Smith, who made two Chargers miss, then cut inside and deked another defender before being tackled at the Chargers 27 for a 54-yard gain.

The Ravens had to settle for Tucker's 43-yard field goal.

Flacco was sacked five times, twice by Antwan Barnes.

NOTES: Chargers S Eric Weddle sustained a concussion when he was hit by Anquan Boldin on the fourth-and-29 play. Chargers S Atari Bigby and LB Donald Butler both left with groin injuries in the second quarter. ... Ravens TE Ed Dickson sprained a knee. ... The Ravens were 8 of 13 on third-down conversions in the second half and overtime, and 12 of 24 for the game. The Chargers were 3 of 15 on third-down conversions for the game.

Do We Now Need To Question the Research Published in the NEJM ...

A very interesting article appeared in the Saturday, November 24, 2012 edition of the Washington Post. According to the article The New England Journal of Medicine which is among the most prestigious medical journal in the world regularly features articles over which pharmaceutical companies and their employees exert significant influence.

The problem is simple, over a year-long period ending this last August, about two-thirds of the articles on new drugs published in the Journal were co-written by employees of the companies that made the drugs.
So, the real question we need to ask can drug research still be trusted?

The Journal?s reliance on industry research and authors reflects the ability of pharmaceutical companies to shape science and influence what doctors prescribe for their patients. This is very scary.

Gaza cleric calls violation of Israel truce sinful

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) ? A leading Islamic cleric in the Gaza Strip has ruled it a sin to violate the recent cease-fire between Israel and the Hamas militant group that controls the Palestinian territory.

The fatwa, or religious edict, issued by Suleiman al-Daya late Saturday accords a religious legitimacy to the truce and could justify any act by Gaza's government to enforce it.

"Honoring the truce, which was sponsored by our Egyptian brethren, is the duty of each and every one of us. Violating it shall constitute a sin," the fatwa read.

The Wednesday truce put an end to an eight-day Israeli offensive against Gaza militants who fired rockets into Israel. The agreement remains fragile because details beyond the initial cease-fire have not yet been worked out.

'Dallas' star Larry Hagman dies in Texas

J.R. Ewing was a business cheat, faithless husband and bottomless well of corruption. Yet with his sparkling grin, Larry Hagman masterfully created the charmingly loathsome oil baron ? and coaxed forth a Texas-size gusher of ratings ? on television's long-running and hugely successful nighttime soap, "Dallas."

Although he first gained fame as nice guy Capt. Tony Nelson on the fluffy 1965-70 NBC comedy "I Dream of Jeannie," Hagman earned his greatest stardom with J.R. The CBS serial drama about the Ewing family and those in their orbit aired from April 1978 to May 1991, and broke viewing records with its "Who shot J.R.?" 1980 cliffhanger that left unclear if Hagman's character was dead.

The actor, who returned as J.R. in a new edition of "Dallas" this year, had a long history of health problems and died Friday due to complications from his battle with cancer, his family said.

"Larry was back in his beloved hometown of Dallas, re-enacting the iconic role he loved the most. Larry's family and closest friends had joined him in Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday," the family said in a statement that was provided to The Associated Press by Warner Bros., producer of the show.

The 81-year-old actor was surrounded by friends and family before he passed peacefully, "just as he'd wished for," the statement said.

Linda Gray, his on-screen wife and later ex-wife in the original series and the sequel, was among those with Hagman in his final moments in a Dallas hospital, said her publicist, Jeffrey Lane.

"He brought joy to everyone he knew. He was creative, generous, funny, loving and talented, and I will miss him enormously. He was an original and lived life to the fullest," the actress said.

Years before "Dallas," Hagman had gained TV fame on "I Dream of Jeannie," in which he played an astronaut whose life is disrupted when he finds a comely genie, portrayed by Barbara Eden, and takes her home to live with him.

Eden recalled late Friday shooting the series' pilot "in the frigid cold" on a Malibu beach.

"From that day, for five more years, Larry was the center of so many fun, wild and sometimes crazy times. And in retrospect, memorable moments that will remain in my heart forever," Eden said.

Hagman also starred in two short-lived sitcoms, "The Good Life" (NBC, 1971-72) and "Here We Go Again" (ABC, 1973). His film work included well-regarded performances in "The Group," ''Harry and Tonto" and "Primary Colors."

But it was Hagman's masterful portrayal of J.R. that brought him the most fame. And the "Who shot J.R.?" story twist fueled international speculation and millions of dollars in betting-parlor wagers. It also helped give the series a place in ratings history.

When the answer was revealed in a November 1980 episode, an average 41 million U.S. viewers tuned in to make "Dallas" one of the most-watched entertainment shows of all time, trailing only the "MASH" finale in 1983 with 50 million viewers.

It was J.R.'s sister-in-law, Kristin (Mary Crosby) who plugged him ? he had made her pregnant, then threatened to frame her as a prostitute unless she left town ? but others had equal motivation.

Hagman played Ewing as a bottomless well of corruption with a charming grin: a business cheat and a faithless husband who tried to get his alcoholic wife, Sue Ellen (Gray), institutionalized.

"I know what I want on J.R.'s tombstone," Hagman said in 1988. "It should say: 'Here lies upright citizen J.R. Ewing. This is the only deal he ever lost.'"

On Friday night, Victoria Principal, who co-starred in the original series, recalled Hagman as "bigger than life, on-screen and off. He is unforgettable, and irreplaceable, to millions of fans around the world, and in the hearts of each of us, who was lucky enough to know and love him."

Ten episodes of the new edition of "Dallas" aired this past summer and proved a hit for TNT. Filming was in progress on the sixth episode of season two, which is set to begin airing Jan. 28, the network said.

There was no immediate comment from Warner or TNT on how the series would deal with Hagman's loss.

In 2006, he did a guest shot on FX's drama series "Nip/Tuck," playing a macho business mogul. He also got new exposure in recent years with the DVD releases of "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Dallas."

The Fort Worth, Texas, native was the son of singer-actress Mary Martin, who starred in such classics as "South Pacific" and "Peter Pan." Martin was still in her teens when he was born in 1931 during her marriage to attorney Ben Hagman.

As a youngster, Hagman gained a reputation for mischief-making as he was bumped from one private school to another. He made a stab at New York theater in the early 1950s, then served in the Air Force from 1952-56 in England.

While there, he met and married young Swedish designer Maj Axelsson. The couple had two children, Preston and Heidi, and were longtime residents of the Malibu beach colony that is home to many celebrities.

Hagman returned to acting and found work in the theater and in such TV series as "The U.S. Steel Hour," ''The Defenders" and "Sea Hunt." His first continuing role was as lawyer Ed Gibson on the daytime serial "The Edge of Night" (1961-63).

He called his 2001 memoir "Hello Darlin': Tall (and Absolutely True) Tales about My Life."

"I didn't put anything in that I thought was going to hurt someone or compromise them in any way," he told The Associated Press at the time.

Hagman was diagnosed in 1992 with cirrhosis of the liver and acknowledged that he had drank heavily for years. In 1995, a malignant tumor was discovered on his liver and he underwent a transplant.

After his transplant, he became an advocate for organ donation and volunteered at a hospital to help frightened patients.

"I counsel, encourage, meet them when they come in for their operations, and after," he said in 1996. "I try to offer some solace, like 'Don't be afraid, it will be a little uncomfortable for a brief time, but you'll be OK.' "

He also was an anti-smoking activist who took part in "Great American Smoke-Out" campaigns.

Funeral plans were not immediately announced.

"I can honestly say that we've lost not just a great actor, not just a television icon, but an element of pure Americana," Eden said in her statement Friday night. "Goodbye, Larry. There was no one like you before and there will never be anyone like you again."
