New Gaming Computer, Need Some Good Stuff on Here

Alright so I just got in the mail my gaming computer, intel core i5 3.6ghz turbo boost, 8gb ram, yadayadayada. Anyways since there's no discussion in the software section and it's not really a request, what apps would you guys recommend I put on this thing? Oh yeah it's running on Windows 8 (Don't say Str8 or whatever the app is called that gives you the start button on windows 8)

Or you could use Media Player Classic instead of VLC, You might want to get some anti spyware and anti malware if your worried about viruses, Advanced System care pro does wonders to keep my computer clean better than ccleaner the only downside is you have to pay for the pro version... unless your a pirate. But the pro version comes with some good utilities, deep registry cleaning, a built-in uninstaller than can search the registry for anything that hasn't been removed by the uninstaller, etc.

If you like recording software and you want to keep the filesize to a minimum you should get bandicam, If you dont care about file size I would recommend getting Dxtory and use the Lagarith lossless codec.

At the moment I cant think of what else you might be interested in but i hope this helps.

She even plays video games! Wow!!

I prefer TuneUp Utilities to Ccleaner, it's worth seeing which you like best / comparing them

Kick Windows 8 and put 7 x64 on it unless you have a touch screen. Other than what has been posted already; Firefox, avast!, Office 2010, Stick with WMP it is the best just get Shark007 for codecs, Newsleecher, FlashFXP, ImgBurn, Adobe Master Collection CS6, WinRAR, Jdownloader, abgx360 lol, latest beta graphics drivers? and then fill it with your favorite games...

Create God-Mode: Right click on desktop and create a new folder and name it "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" without the quotes... enjoy all the shit you need in one place finally...

Now I already installed a bunch of stuff on my computer if I try downgrading to windows 7 will it delete all of that? Because in my previous encounters with operating systems I had to have a clean hard drive. And what does the god mode folder do?

Yes you would be better off starting fresh with Windows 7 Ultimate/Enterprise x64. If it was me I would redo it all with 7 lol. 8 sux the balls imo, unless you have a touchscreen to actually utilize it... It's a touch version of 7 for dummies...

GodMode is just a hidden folder that puts all of Windows commonly needed settings in one place rather than 50 different places like normal. It will change nothing on your OS and is merely a centralized shortcut location for everything computer admins need. Just a neat little tweak...

TuneUp Utilities 2013 (must have to maintain your PC)
anti malwarebytes (malware protection)
PS3 media server (to stream media to your mobile/console devices)
utorrent (download stuff)
peer block (protection while downloading stuff, visiting websites, etc etc)
Mozilla Firefox (with adblock plus + subscriptions)
VPN (either securityKISS or Cyberghost)

depends what else, if you do recording videos, get camtasia studios
if you convert files, get format factory
