McCain-Graham-Ayotte: President's Sequestration Report Leaves Americans "In the Dark"

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) released the following statement today regarding the Office of Management and Budget Report Pursuant to the Sequestration Transparency Act of 2012 - which states that defense sequestration will have a 'devastating' impact on defense, be 'deeply destructive to national security', and 'threaten the safety and security of the American people': 'Unfortunately, at a time when threats to our country are growing, this report represents another example of the failure of President Obama to lead. The report echoes the dire warnings of the President's Secretary of Defense and Joint Chiefs of Staff, and yet the President has failed to lead a bipartisan effort to avert this looming national security disaster. 'This report, which was required by the law President Obama signed, was not only a week late, but it fails to provide details down to the program, project, and activity level. The report claims that more time is needed to provide these necessary details - but that is principally because the Administration has deliberately refused to plan for sequestration for an entire year. This disappointing report provides virtually no new information.
